IsThisATornado.com was built around a simple idea: when the weather gets scary, people want a fast, understandable answer.
The site uses location information supplied by your device and official National Weather Service alert data to determine whether that location is currently inside an active tornado warning.
When serious weather is active, the jokes stop. Safety information always takes priority over personality or advertising.
What this site does not do
It does not independently detect a physical tornado from your GPS position. A “YES” result means your location is inside an active National Weather Service Tornado Warning returned at the time of the check.
